Outline Planning Permission has been granted for additional 83,000 square metres of floor space including, teaching facilities, commercial space and towers of student accommodation.

The scheme was revised following concerns raised by Historic England during consultation, however these revisions did not satisfy their concerns that the development would harm the view of Grade I listed St Mary Redcliffe Church.

The Environment Agency also raised concerns with regards to the information submitted with the application as it had not demostrated that the site can be made safe without increasing flood risk in other areas.

The Officer proceeded to recommend the application for approval and this was subsequently granted by Councillors.

Bristol City Council has said the outstanding matters will be dealt with in future reserved matters applications and will be secured through a Planning Obligation.
