A couple who were returning from their honeymoon in the Caribbean were shocked to find a 6ft high fence had been placed across the front of their house in Blackburn, Lancashire.

Persimmon Homes who built the house as part of a new residential development, claim that it “does not reach into any land which it does not own” and that enforcement action is now being taken against the neighbouring landowner to address the fence which has been “erected illegally and in breach of planning regulations”.

The couple have expressed their dismay at the fence, stating that it was their “dream home” because of the views it offered, and that now it “feels like we are imprisoned in our own house”. They went on to compare their situation to that of a “hostage in a land dispute which is nothing to do with us”.
